Red isn't normally a color I gravitate towards in flowers, but part of expanding my skills is working with flowers and colors I wouldn't necessarily pick out for my apartment.
Regardless, these are kind of modern and warm arrangements and I like them. Red is growing on me. I also didn't used to like calla lilies, so maybe I'm just updating my tastes a bit.
I like the contrast of the prickly things with the silken petals. Like the flowers are saying "touch me" and the pricklies warn "but beware!" And I have always thought of calla liles as kind of cold and spare, but the way you use them makes them look serpentine and sensual. I like.

Thanks Liz! I am not sure what those gray things are called. I asked two people at the market and they couldn't remember. They are kind of artichoke-like, but harder and kind of heavier. I think they're really interesting though!
