Flowers Inspired By...

Hi Everyone. I'm starting a new column. Basically we're going to take reader suggestions of images (can be a painting, pattern, wallpaper, dress, etc.) and create a floral arrangement that relates to the image.

I'm going to name a theme or category once a week. You are going to write back in the comments section and post a link to your submission. I'll pick one submission to design flowers for, and I'll post the images together.

Hmm. It's a simple idea, but this might have come across as confusing. Let me know.

This week's theme, inspired by a foggy Sunday in SF: Cozy.

So post a link to your submission in the comments section. If you're stuck, some ideas I have might be a favorite quilt or funky tights. Please do so by Wednesday, I'm going to try to post the results by the end of the week.

Thanks! I'm excited to see how this goes.

Cheers.

  4. OK, so I may not be following the rules because this is an image poem, not an image. But it has always felt so cozy to me. It is the poem "This Moment" by the otherwordly-talented Eavan Boland:

    A neighbourhood.
    At dusk.

    Things are getting ready
    to happen
    out of sight.

    Stars and moths.
    And rinds slanting around fruit.

    But not yet.

    One tree is black.
One window is yellow as butter.

A woman leans down to catch a child
who has run into her arms
    this moment.

    Stars rise.
    Moths flutter.
    Apples sweeten in the dark.
